Season 20 has had it's ups and downs so far for team Hc Alpine. The team made some huge early moves and acquired one of the top sprinters in the peleton, WC Spiridon Apetri. How have things fared since?
Spiridon: Spiridon has not really lived up to expectations, could this be due to the transfer and adjustments or simply a lack luster lead out train? Hc Alpine has been working on improving his train, but at the same time are buckled cash wise in helping Bartoli at a parallel pace.
Spiridon has 4 results, a win in div 3, a third in Rotterdam Classic and 2 top 9's in div 2 classics.
"We were hoping for some better placements in those classics especially, we targeted them and Apetri went in as one of the top 3 riders""I think he has had a tough start, but I feel positive about the next half of the season. The key is consistency, we need every race to be a top 9 finish and then the podium finishes as well. 10th places just don't cut it!"
Bartoli has had a season we expected, with 5 results. He is missing the victory but overall has done well. 4, 10th finishes also hurts him point wise. "Just like Spiridon we think Bartoli is a div 1 rider who can put up 750+ points per season, now we just need to see it!"
"It is really up to these 2 guys, they are our captains and will captain every race.""We believe we have decent team mates who can help them achieve their objectives and are working on solidifying this statement with some fresh young talent.""They key is winning, which makes money which in return allows for more money to be spent on support."" We have roughly 30 days left in this season and are really hoping these boys can pull in some serious points. Anything under 1000 at the end of this season is a failure for me."
